The EQAO Test Results & Colour Charts

The EQAO is an independent agency of the Ontario government
. EQAO provides accurate, objective and clear information about student achievement and the quality of publicly funded education in Ontario. In addition, EQAO works to ensure that this information is used to bring about improvement for individual students and for the education system as a whole.

The test scores seen throughout this website (Each school in the Top 50 will have the analysis of their test results released AFTER their ranking has been published) are copied directly from annual reports through the EQAO. They are then disseminated, compared and analyzed to provide a clearer picture of the current state of Mississauga schools.

All Grade 3, Grade 6, Grade 9 and Literacy test results reported here reflect the average of all participating students in that particular school.

This website uses a SIMPLE VISUAL COLOURED-RANKING system to help the reader EASILY and QUICKY establish a particular school's overall test grades relative to the other schools in Mississauga (see Board averages below).

In a nutshell, USE THESE COLOURS AS YOUR GUIDE:

Colour Guide

The "TEST-PERFORMANCE COLOURS"

Each school has been assigned TWO COLOURS and an ARROW, based entirely on EQAO test scores over the last five years (2004-2008/09), with more weight given to the previous three years. These colours (and the arrow) were assigned after reading the colour-patterns brought about by the colour-grouping of EQAO test scores.

HOW TO READ the  "TEST-PERFORMANCE COLOURS" of each SCHOOL

The 1st colour is the PRIMARY INDICATOR of a school's EQAO-test performance.

The 2nd colour is the SECONDARY QUALIFIER of a school's EQAO-test performance.

The ARROW is the GENERAL DIRECTION the school is headed with regard to those tests.

More WEIGHT is given to the LAST THREE YEARS (than the two years before that).

Therefore, Brookmede (K-5) up means:
Brookmede is testing like a SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE school with ABOVE AVERAGE tendencies, but they may be on the rise (hopefully!).).

And, Hawthorne (K-8) means:
Hawthorne is testing like an EXCELLENT school with ABOVE AVERAGE tendencies, and they are basically staying the course.

And, School Name Withheld (K-5) downmeans:
School Name Withheld is testing like a POOR school (relative to most of the other schools in Mississauga) with POOR tendencies, and BEWARE! (the school may be heading in a unsatisfactory direction).
